Misconduct and False Statements

This page highlights a series of misleading statements and instances of professional misconduct by State Farm Agents, State Farm Claims and third-party vendors. The following information is compiled from documented correspondence, complaint filings, and official responses.

Statements from the Tow Company (Lion Country Automotive)

Misleading Claim:
"When I arrived [policyholder] refused to exit the vehicle while I pulled it onto solid ground to load it onto dollies. This is the first time in over 20 years that I've had a customer refuse to exit the vehicle."

Context: This statement, sourced from Lion Country Automotive's response to the Bureau of Consumer Protection, misrepresents the incident. The documentation shows that the tow driver asked the policyholder to get into the Jeep to assist with the tow.

False Accusation:
"The combination of the three certainly makes me question [policyholder]'s motivation. I appreciate your attention to this matter as those that choose to defraud the system should be held accountable."

Context: This is a serious, unsubstantiated accusation of fraud made against a policyholder who raised safety concerns about the tow.

Statements and Actions from Agent Dave Wrona

Action:

Issued a homeowners policy with an inflated dwelling value of $441,400.

Context: This policy was based on incorrect property details, such as a full basement with 10-foot ceilings. A later, proper assessment by a different State Farm agent corrected the value to $395,000, and a competitor insurance quote valued the property at $350,000.

Action:

Created an e-bike policy for a more expensive model ($2,051) at a higher premium ($123) than was initially quoted ($65).

Context: The documentation shows that the incorrect information for the policy was not provided by the policyholder.

Statement:
"It is nothing that can be done through the agent's office. I truly wish I could do more, but I am unable to do anything in relations to claims..."

Context: Agent Wrona’s refusal to assist with a legitimate claim for damages caused by a State Farm-dispatched service.

Statement:
"I will not be replying to any further accusations or harassment."

Context: The agent's unprofessional and dismissive end to the correspondence after a request that he stop contacting the policyholder.

Statements and Actions from Agent Jim Ely

Misleading Statement:
"Did you review the replacement cost and coverage before you agreed pay for the policy? If that did not happen that is on you."

Context: This statement shifts responsibility for the incorrect homeowners policy onto the policyholder, despite the initial agent's professional duty to gather accurate details.

Misleading Statement:
"Bicycle...This is the information that was obtained from you on the application... That information was given by you to Dave."

Context: Agent Ely's attempt to deflect responsibility for the incorrect e-bike policy by claiming the wrong information came from the policyholder, a claim that has been factually contradicted.

Statement from State Farm Claims Department

Misleading Statement:
"State Farm is not involved with Agero tow company selections."

Context: This claim was made by a State Farm claims associate to deflect liability for the tow vendor’s actions. While State Farm uses a third party (Agero), who in turn may use another third party (Lion Country), State Farm is the ultimate party that dispatched the service, establishing a chain of responsibility.
